RICHMOND, Va — Four members of the Richmond men’s golf team were named Cobalt Golf All-American Scholars when the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced its annual academic honors Monday.
Carson Baez, Jack LaPiana, Parker Moellinger, and Quin Polin were named All-American Scholars after meeting the program’s stringent qualifications:
• Must have played in at least 50 percent of a team’s competitive rounds during the season
• Must have posted a stroke average under 76.0
• Must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher
• Must have displayed high moral character
Freshmen are not eligible for the award.
Richmond was one of 81 Division I schools with at least four honorees. 2026 is the sixth straight year at least four Spiders have been named All-American Scholars, with four selections in 2025 and 2024, five in 2023, four in 2022, and a school-record six All-American Scholars in 2021. Prior to 2021, no more than three Richmond golfers had been named All-American Scholars in the same year.
LaPiana was named to the team for a second straight year, while Baez, Moellinger, and Polin all earned their first selections. They are the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th different Spiders to earn All-American Scholar honors.
Richmond, the defending Atlantic 10 champions, will open its 2026-27 season later this month when the Spiders compete in the Virtues Intercollegiate in Nashport, Ohio on August 29-30.
