ROANOKE? — Rachel Bray, a graduate of Lord Botetourt High School in Daleville, has been honored as one of four winners in the Virginia Lottery’s inaugural “Made in Virginia” program.
As a winner, Bray was able to gift $9,000 in prizes to Lucy Addison Middle School, a Roanoke school where she volunteers, and will be featured in a Virginia Lottery “Made in Virginia” commercial set to air in January.
Launched for the first time this year, the goal of “Made in Virginia” is to recognize exceptional individuals who got their start in Virginia public schools.
Bray founded her own nonprofit organization, Comunidad de Raíces, in Granada, Nicaragua before bringing her efforts back to Roanoke. The organization’s mission is to empower impoverished communities by stumulating activities.
