Dear Editor.
There is a Life Chain event upcoming on Sunday, October 4. It will be held on the sidewalks at the traffic light at Walmart in Covington, from 1:30 to about 2:45 p.m. Why hold a Life Chain twice a year? More Virginia babies were aborted in 2025 than 2024. This is for two reasons. One is that the abortion pill has become the easier method of choice, killing over 60% of all aborted babies in our state. The other is that Virginia has become an abortion destination with less restrictions than some neighboring states, so out-of-state mothers come here to discard their child in utero.
The Life Chain is not a political event. Participants select a 18” x 24” sign from a variety of printed signs describing some truth regarding abortion, stand or sit holding this sign while on a sidewalk safely away from traffic, and silently pray asking God to convict the hearts of passing motorists of the sanctity of unborn life. We deliver the message, God hopefully changes their hearts to be more pro-life.
Please join us and bring your older children to this pray-and-display event sponsored by the Sacred Heart and Saint Joseph Knights of Columbus Council #17457. An Event Permit has been approved by the City Manager to hold this event once again. Rain date is Sunday October 11.
Additional details: bring a chair, water, and hat & sunglasses if you like. Distance is maintained between sign-holders on the sidewalk to encourage prayer and discourage chatter, signs being supplied at the event. Hope to see you there.
