COVINGTON, VA (VR) – Alleghany Highlands Regional Library is currently displaying the work of talented Clifton Forge Native Chuck Almarez.
Chuck Almarez is a commercial photographer and photography instructor. He earned his Masters of Professional Studies in Digital Photography from
the School of Visual Arts in New York City and a Bachelor’s Degree in Photography from Brooks Institute of Photography, with majors in Industrial
Photography and Color Technology. He has shared his extensive knowledge of digital photography through courses at Mountain Gateway Community College, Blue Ridge Community College, Carnegie Hall in West Virginia, and Roanoke Parks & Rec Brambleton Center.
In his work, Chuck does not focus on one subject area, but photographs anything that inspires him, drawn specifically by the light surrounding his subject. “My choice with current technology is to work in the modern digital ‘lightroom’. I enjoy the challenge of enhancing an image to my own satisfaction.” He is inspired by photography “darkroom wizards” of the past like Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, and Jerry Uelsmann. Chuck’s work has appeared in numerous regional magazines and newspapers as well as the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and Roanoker Magazine. It can be
