ALLEGHANY COUNTY, VA (VR) – The Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR), Office of Public Safety & Law Enforcement (OPSLE), was contacted by the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) regarding a 32 year old subject from Clifton Forge, Virginia, who had failed to return to work and had reportedly been experiencing mental health concerns.
ACSO advised that the vehicle the subject had been driving was located within Douthat State Park. Law Enforcement with DCR, Virginia State Police (VSP), ACSO and Bath County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), searched for the individual until conditions prevented additional efforts yesterday and resumed the search with additional support from VSP, ACSO, BCSO and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) this morning. The subject was located around 10 a.m. this morning and is currently receiving medical attention.
DCR appreciates the efforts of our law enforcement personnel and the staff at Douthat State Park, and thank our partners with VSP, ACSO, BCSO and VDEM for their support and assistance with a successful operation.
