ALLEGHANY HIGHLANDS, VA. (VR) – May 19th marks the 6th Annual Give Local Alleghany Highlands (GLAH) event and a wonderful opportunity to show community enthusiasm and help area nonprofits.

The GLAH excitement is easy to catch in this 24-hour online fundraising event; donors do not need to register, and a five-dollar donation makes an individual part of this community event.

Since its beginning, the community has contributed through Give Local Alleghany Highlands to help local nonprofits raise over $1.75 million in support of their residents and their causes of Alleghany County, City of Covington, Town of Clifton Forge, and Iron Gate.

Keep the excitement going with your donations and give local nonprofits the opportunity to compete for a share of $65,000 in prizes, adding to the community’s donations. The 24-hour giving event runs from Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 12AM through 11:59:59pm ET. Find your favorite cause on the GiveLocals AH website at www.givelocalah.org and share your excitement with family and friends about how you help them reach their goal.

“Give Local Alleghany Highlands continues to be one of the most powerful examples of what our community can accomplish when we come together. This initiative not only provides critical funding for our local nonprofits, but it also shines a light on the incredible work being done every day to improve the quality of life across our region. The impact of this event goes far beyond a single day, it strengthens organizations, supports those in need, and reinforces the spirit that makes the Alleghany Highlands such a special place.” said Josh Taylor, Executive Director of
the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism.

Be part of the GLAH excitement with a minimum donation of $5 during the 24-hour giving day, and you could move your chosen organization to the top-earning nonprofit list, win a “Power Hour” for them, or be chosen for a “Golden Ticket”.

Your enthusiasm for GLAH and your chosen cause can be felt by others when you give as a first-time donor and encourage others to do the same! Having first-time donors opens opportunities for prizes for a participating group. Full details about prize opportunities can be found at www.givelocalah.org.

“The individual donations share tremendous energy with the nonprofits, and these prizes add excitement to the event and empower community members to make a significant impact for their favorite nonprofits,” said Mary Fant Donnan, Executive Director of The Alleghany Foundation.
The GLAH event is hosted by The Alleghany Foundation in partnership with the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism. Participating nonprofits serving Alleghany County and the City of Covington, Alleghany County, City of Covington, Town of Clifton Forge,
and Iron Gate are found on www.givelocalah.org

Early Giving for GLAH begins May 5, 2026, at 9:00 am ET for community members who want to participate in Give Local Alleghany Highlands but will not be available on May 19th.

For more information about participating in Give Local Alleghany Highlands, visit www.givelocalah.org, email Madge Vosteen at contact@givelocalah.org, or call The Alleghany Foundation office at (540) 962-0970. “Like” the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce
