Clara Rebecca Brown Anderson

Clara Rebecca Brown Anderson, age 96, formerly of Glen Wilton, Virginia died on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at Hickory Hill Retirement Community in Burkeville, Virginia.

Clara was born on April 10, 1930 in Glen Wilton to the late James Ernest and Annie Bell Brown.  She was a family-oriented homemaker throughout her life and a dedicated, caring wife and mother. She was a kind lady who put everyone before herself and was known for cooking dinners and making pies to share to with others. She loved being in the sunshine working in her flowers, and in later years, enjoyed traveling with her family.

In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Boston Anderson, Jr. in 2006; three sisters, Annie Belle Yancy, Grace Thompson, and Mary Holloman; and two brothers, James E. Brown, Jr. and Robert Brown.

She is survived by four daughters, Norma Jean Anderson of Burkeville, Dreama Anderson Walker of Richmond, Joy Ann Dean of Richmond, and Melissa Lee Anderson of Waynesboro; two sons, Herman Anderson III of Milwaukee, WI and Clarence Edward Anderson of Richmond; a son-in-law, Anthony “Tony” Dean of Richmond; a sister-in-law, Shirley Brown of Covington; a grandson, Myles Edward Anderson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026 at 2:00 PM in Mt Beulah Baptist Church, Glen Wilton with Reverend Kathryn Simpson and Reverend Dr. Roslyn Thomas officiating.  Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. The family will receive friends on Friday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of service at the church.
