COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – Covington middle school girls soccer stayed hot with a 5-0 win over Radford, controlling play on both ends.
Emeri Brown delivered a dominant performance with four goals, attacking early and often and finishing in space. Ashtyn Crawford added a goal to cap the scoring effort.
Covington set the tone from the opening kick, keeping possession and pushing forward with consistent pressure. The defense limited Radford’s chances, forcing shots from distance and clearing quickly.
Marley Aragones anchored the back line with four saves, preserving the shutout.
The boys soccer team closed its season with a hard-fought 2-1 loss to Christiansburg. Goalkeeper Sam Nickell delivered a standout performance with 14 saves, keeping Covington in the match under constant pressure.
Dalton Vance scored Covington’s lone goal, capitalizing on one of the team’s limited opportunities. Oliver Brown and Sam Vargas each put shots on goal, helping generate offensive chances.
Covington’s defense and midfield played physical and disciplined throughout, battling to slow Christiansburg’s attack and keep the game within reach.
