COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – The Alleghany Highlands Healthy Youth Coalition hosted an interactive Alcohol Awareness Event on Monday, April 6th, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Cucci’s Parking Lot, drawing community members together for an afternoon focused on education, reflection, and prevention.

Centered around the message that one decision can change everything, the event invited attendees to step into real-life scenarios designed to highlight the serious consequences of impaired driving. Participants moved through interactive stations that illustrated how choices made behind the wheel can impact not only their own lives, but also the lives of others.

Throughout the day, the coalition emphasized the importance of making responsible decisions and understanding the risks associated with alcohol use, particularly when driving. The hands-on format encouraged engagement and allowed individuals to experience situations that reinforced the event’s core message in a memorable and meaningful way.

In addition to the educational activities, attendees were welcomed with free popcorn and water, creating a relaxed and inviting environment for learning and conversation. Community members of all ages stopped by, many leaving with a deeper understanding of the potential consequences of impaired driving and the importance of making safe choices.

The event served as a powerful reminder that awareness and education play a crucial role in preventing tragedies. By bringing the community together in an interactive setting, the Alleghany Highlands Healthy Youth Coalition successfully promoted a message that resonated long after the event concluded.
