ROANOKE, Va. (VR) – Covington Middle School jumped ahead early and controlled the pace throughout in a 4-1 win over Breckinridge, using a four-goal outburst and organized play on both ends.
Emeri Brown powered the offense with two goals, consistently finding space and finishing chances inside the box. Carlee Hensley added a goal to extend the lead, keeping momentum on Covington’s side through the middle stages.
Haley Jonas delivered the final blow late, ripping a shot from 18 yards out for the team’s fourth goal to cap the scoring.
Defensively, Covington limited clean looks and kept possession in its favor. In goal, Marley Aragones finished with two saves, stepping in when needed as Breckinridge struggled to generate sustained pressure.
The lady Cougars are 6-0 on the season.
