FORT DEFIANCE, Va. (VR) – The Alleghany Cougars closed out their season on top Monday night, battling past Fort Defiance in three sets — 25–16, 24–26, 15–11 — to secure the JV volleyball championship.

Alleghany took control midway through the first set after a tight opening stretch. Kimora Moye made her presence felt early, dominating at the net with several blocks and kills that fueled an eight-point run to close the set.

The second set saw more strong play from Kinley Uzzell, who opened with back-to-back kills to give Alleghany a 5–2 edge. Despite solid defense from Uzzell and continued consistency from the service line, Fort Defiance rallied to take the set and even the match.

In the deciding frame, Alleghany regrouped quickly after an early deficit. Ava Taylor commanded the offense with great control, while Callie Uzzell came through with a clutch kill that reignited the Cougars’ momentum. From there, Moye took charge again at the net, and Taylor capped the night serving up the match-point ace to secure the title.
