Downtown Covington Roars to Life for 2025 Streetscene

COVINGTON, Va. (VR) –  Covington’s most anticipated summer tradition rolled back into town on Saturday, August 9, as Kars Unlimited hosted the 2025 Streetscene in the heart of Downtown. From the early morning hours until the evening sun dipped behind the mountains, Main Street was lined bumper-to-bumper with gleaming rides of every shape, size, and style.

If it had wheels, chances are it was there. Classic muscle cars sat proudly beside vintage trucks, custom go-karts, motorcycles, and even a fully decked-out school bus — each drawing its own crowd of admirers. Engines rumbled, chrome sparkled, and the smell of fresh wax and polish mixed with the mouthwatering aroma from nearby food vendors.

Car enthusiasts from across Southwest Virginia and neighboring West Virginia flocked to Covington, making this year’s Streetscene one of the largest yet. Attendees swapped stories, snapped photos, and relived memories of the “good old days” when some of these cars first hit the open road.

“This is more than just a car show,” said one longtime participant. “It’s a gathering of friends, family, and folks who love preserving and celebrating automotive history.”

The event also featured music, raffles, and activities for all ages, ensuring there was plenty to enjoy for those who came for more than the cars. The warm summer day, paired with the electric energy of the crowd, made for an unforgettable celebration of community and craftsmanship.

The entertainment didn’t stop once Main Street emptied out, the next stop would be the Jackson River Sports Complex. Buddy Allen & Cheat River took to the River Rock Amphitheater stage and performed until time for the fireworks show.

As the last engines cooled, the streets slowly cleared and the last firework exploded, one thing was certain — Streetscene once again proved why it remains Covington’s crown jewel of summer events.
