 Carol Koehler Jones

Carol Koehler Jones, age 80, of Clifton Forge, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at LewisGale Hospital – Alleghany.

Carol was born on September 2, 1944 in Syosset Long Island, New York, a daughter of the late Albert and Edna Reeves Koehler. Carol grew up in Syosset Long Island, New York and graduated from Syosset High School. Carol came to Clifton Forge in 1963 to attend the C&O School of Nursing and graduated from there in 1966. She met and married E.C. Jones, Jr. and they began their life together here in Clifton Forge. Carol was a nurse for 40 years, including working as an ICU nurse at Alleghany Regional Hospital for 25 years. She loved caring for others.

In her retirement years, Carol enjoyed volunteering at the Alleghany Arts and Crafts Center, volunteering for Hospice, taking walks with her husband and their daily lunch outings, going on trips, and spending time with family and friends. She loved to learn, including playing piano, and taking art classes. Her love for her community, her kindness for others, her sharp wit and her joy for life will always be remembered. Carol loved her husband of 60 years and cherished and loved her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by two brothers, Bud Koehler and Tom Koehler; and two sisters, Mary Lou Genova and Alice Paxton.

Carol is survived by her husband E.C. Jones, Jr. of Clifton Forge; her sister, Emily Gunter of North Carolina; three children, Tina Jones (Rick), David Jones (Deloris), and Kathy Funkhouser (Steve); five grandchildren, Gabe, Luke, and Maddie Jones, Abby and Emma Funkhouser, and great grandson, Christopher. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In keeping with her wishes to be cremated, a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Skip Hastings and Mr. Chris Fisher officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday morning from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank LewisGale Hospital – Alleghany, and ConnectionsPlus Healthcare and Hospice for the professional and personal care they gave.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church, 544 Church St. Clifton Forge, in memory of Carol Jones.
