James Wesley “Jim” Taliaferro, Sr.
James Wesley “Jim” Taliaferro, Sr., age 74, of 104 Bath Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia died on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond.
Jim was born on January 29, 1951 in Clifton Forge to the late George Erskine Taliaferro and Gillous Grace Buchanan Taliaferro. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1969 to 1971, and was a retired Maintenance Director for The Woodlands Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clifton Forge. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, but especially enjoyed playing music with his brothers-in-law, Paul Terry, Jr. and Pete Terry and listening to rock-n-roll. He loved his dog “Tramp” and spending time in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his mother- and father-in-law, Pauline and Paul Terry, Sr.; two sisters-in-law, Paula Smith and Jenny Sherron; and a brother-in-law, Paul Terry, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Terry Taliaferro , a daughter, Karyn Pullen (Bucky), and a son, James W. Taliaferro, Jr. (Lisa), all of Clifton Forge; a sister, Patricia Fitzgerald of Charlottesville; two brothers, Ricky Taliaferro (Linda) of Winchester and Doug Taliaferro (Denia) of Selma; three grandchildren, Kayla Wright (Dillon), Jackson Pullen, and Jacob Taliaferro; four sisters-in-law, Paulette Terry, Peggy Nelson, Betty Layton, and Roxane Unroe; a brother-in-law, Roger “Pete” Terry; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Mount Carmel Methodist Church in Covington, VA with Reverend Doug Hollenbeck officiating. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday morning at the church, from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
