Barbara Jean Rose Breeden, “mom”, “Grandma Barbara”, age 79, of Charlottesville passed away suddenly at her home on Saturday, November 9, 2019.
Barbara was born October 19, 1940 in Covington, VA to Bertha F. and Harry P. Rose.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 9 of her siblings, Mary Rose, Ilene (Tommie) Yopp, Harry Rose, Jr., Marvin Geoff, Mildred Wolfe, Jack Rose, Billy Rose, Leo (Bucky) Rose and Phyllis Brooks.
She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Ward and her husband Bo of Gordonsville, VA and son, Danny Paxton and his wife Cindy of Richmond, VA. Barbara was a grandmother to Ashleigh and Nick Peregoy of Scottsville, VA, Travis and Hannah Ward of Manchester, England UK, and Lauren and Lisa Paxton of Bedford, VA, her grand dogs Ella, Abbeigh, Annie, Gordie, Biscuit, Diesel and Ollie and grand cat Charlie. She was a great-grandmother to Bryson Baird and Peyton Knight and step-great grandmother to Lauren and Austin Peregoy. Barbara is also survived by her sister Betty Breeden and her husband Charles of Roanoke, VA and many nieces and nephews. Barbara also held a special place in her heart for Brandon Baird.
My mom also left behind many good friends, including 4-legged friends, at Park View in Charlottesville who will miss her very much. Mom enjoyed cooking, reading, spending time with family and friends and watching West Virginia Mountaineer football. She had the gift of gab, at times spending hours on the phone even in the wee hours of the morning. She loved talking about times gone by and seemed to always have a funny quote for someone in need of a laugh. Life threw some curve balls her way but I am thankful that mom was in a very happy place here with us and even though she will be missed we can be at peace knowing that she is reunited with her heaven family and they have welcomed her home. She will have lots of stories to tell around the kitchen table in heaven. Mom, I will miss you so much but I know you will always be there for me. Love, Cheryl.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 1:30 pm at Persinger Memorial Cemetery in Covington, VA. On Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 1 until 5 pm the family welcomes you to a celebration of Barbara’s life to be held in the community room at Park View, 210 S. Pantops Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
Local arrangements are being handled by Loving Funeral Home; www.lovingfuneralhome1913.com.
