ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. (VR) – On April 6, 2025, Deputies from the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office Regional Emergency Response Team served a search warrant at 8003 Potts Creek Rd.

Earlier that date information was received that Methamphetamines were being distributed out of that residence. After the Search Warrant was obtained the warrant was executed at 11:00 pm. Inside the residence were Kevin Nida and Sherry Vance. Both subjects were detained and a search of the residence was conducted. During the search several items were discovered, which included nearly ¾ oz. methamphetamine, several smoking devices and a handgu

Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Alleghany Regional Jail where charges were placed against Nida for Possession of a firearm while in possession of schedule 1 or 2 drugs, Possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony, and Possession with intent to manufacture/distribute Drugs, schedule 1 or 2 drugs, 3 or more offenses. Vance was charged with Possession with intent to manufacture/distribute schedule 1 or 2 Drugs, Possession of a firearm while in possession of schedule 1 or 2 drugs.

Sheriff Kyle Moore stated that this was a great outcome to a very good investigation. We continue to seek out the people who are selling drugs in Alleghany County. We are very hopeful for lengthy sentences for these types of offenses. If you know of anyone who is involved in the illegal use or sell of drugs you can contact the Alleghany Highlands Drug Task Force at 540-965-6308 or the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office at 540-965-1770, #8 to remain anonymous.

The Alleghany Highlands Drug Task Force is made up of members of the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office, the Covington Police Department, the Bath County Sheriff’s Office, the Craig County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police.
