CLIFTON FORGE Va. (VR) – A lunch meeting was held last week at the Historic Masonic Theater to celebrate the conclusion of four years
of service to the Alleghany Highlands community and local nonprofit organizations. Over the first four years, Give Local has
been hosting events and producing clever ways to bring together donors and local charities, making it easier to get them the
funding and help they need to do the important work they do every day. So far, they have raised an incredible $491,498 since beginning their venture.

One of the large nonprofits they worked with in 2024 was The Boys Home which raised $313,577 from 61 donors. Their goal was $20,000. The Clifton Forge School of the Arts had a goal of $25,000 and raised $29,125 from 38 donors which means they also surpassed their goal. It is easy to see that Give Local has been an enormous success thus far, but they insist that the credit goes to their great donors. Give Local Alleghany Highlands also goes the extra mile to help the next generation understand the importance of giving back to your community.

With the sponsorship of the Alleghany Foundation, each high school senior from Alleghany County High School and The Boys Home is given a survey with all the nonprofits that participate in Give Local. The seniors each choose one of the organizations they would like to support, and The Alleghany Foundation gives that nonprofit $50.

This year’s top-chosen organization was Valley View Animal Rescue, which was chosen by 23 seniors. Sixteen seniors picked the Alleghany Humane Society, and Safehome Systems Inc. was chosen by 13 seniors. Give Local is very thankful to the Alleghany Foundation for making the program a success. They also want to thank the community for all their help in the previous four years and look forward to continuing that success with their help in making year five just as great.
