CLIFTON FORGE - Frances Marie Persinger Van Lear, 79, of Carrington Place, Daleville, and formerly of Jefferson Avenue, Clifton Forge, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at Carrington Place.
Born Nov. 24, 1929, in Covington, Marie was a daughter of the late James Marion and Tressie Humphries Persinger.
She was a homemaker throughout her life and a member of Clifton Forge Baptist Church. She had a great love for her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Lewis Van Lear in June of 2000; a daughter, Carol Jean Van Lear in September of 2004; and a sister, Janice Persinger.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Kenneth “Kenny” Haynes of Roanoke and Karen and Harold Criner of Marietta, Ga.; three sisters-in-law, Polly Van Lear of Richmond, Thelma Van Lear of Clifton Forge, and Marie “Mac” Van Lear of Charlotte, N.C.; four grandchildren, Chris Haynes, Melissa Shepherd, Amy Bylicki, and Megan Criner; five great-grandchildren, Ansleigh Quesenberry, Gabriel Lewis Haynes, Taylor Shonhor, Maddelena Shepherd, and Mackenzie Bylicki; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Whitney Bylicki and Ryan Bylicki; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor, with Chaplain Brian Whited officiating. Interment will follow.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
