Dear Sir,
I am writing this as a courtesy plea for all law enforcement employees.
This includes the sheriff, his deputies, chief of police and his officers.
I do implore these officers, men and women, that it be mandatory that all be kept physically, bodily and for any other thing or condition properly to keep themselves able to perform their duties to the best of their ability.
When I, Miss I. Q. Public, look upon some or any of such employees in the law enforcement offices, I cannot but wonder if some would be able to apprehend a criminal person on my behalf. I see a tremendous weight gain on some that I question that ability.
All I ask from some that I may have elected to their position and sworn in by enforcement of the law, to do this. If not for me, then for themselves to enlighten the public that those mentioned to swear by law that they would entice themselves to follow the aforementioned request of keeping themselves physically fit of body.
I am proud of the tremendous job mostly carried out by any of these officers here in Covington or county of Alleghany. I will be more so proud knowing that they care enough to provide themselves mentally and physically conditioned.
And to the public, grant these officers due praise for all that they do for us.
Sincerely,
Velma Craft
Covington
