It was a busy week back in session in Washington, D.C. First, The House voted to pass the FY25 National Defense Authorization Act, which fully funds our military. House Republicans also voted to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress. Last week, we celebrated Father’s Day, the U.S. Army’s 249th birthday, and Flag Day. As always, I enjoyed meeting with various organizations, businesses, and constituents in D.C. and back home in the Sixth District. I’ll continue to fight for the people of Virginia’s Sixth District up in Washington.
NDAA
Last week, the House passed the Fiscal Year 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which I supported, prioritizing supporting our troops at home and protecting our national interests abroad. The NDAA secures $895.2 billion for our armed forces to be thoroughly prepared and equipped, deterring our greatest foreign adversaries, and protecting our allies abroad.
While making sure that we have the best trained military in the world is vital, this defense funding bill restores the focus of our military on lethality, not a radical, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) agenda. I’m proud to support a bill that improves servicemembers quality of life, restores our military focus, and restores American deterrence. Rest assured, I will never stop fighting to strengthen our military and protecting those who protect us.
Holding AG Merrick Garland In Contempt of Congress
I voted with fellow House Republicans to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress last week. The American people deserve to hear the recordings and hear the truth on why Special Counsel Hur deemed Biden unfit for trial. Attorney General Merrick Garland has blatantly defied a lawful subpoena and has completely weaponized and undermined our justice system.
As I have said before, Americans are losing trust in our justice system after we have seen Biden’s DOJ interfere with investigations into the Biden family corruption, label concerned parents as “domestic terrorists,” target Catholics for practicing their faith, and now withholding the release of the Hur interview recording with Biden. It is Congress’s duty to diligently oversee the executive branch, holding it accountable and ensuring transparency for the American people. The DOJ should be upholding equal justice under the law, which is why House Republicans will keep working to end this weaponization of our federal law enforcement agencies.
Happy Father’s Day
I hope all the amazing dads in the Sixth District and across our nation had a great Father’s Day. The love and support you provide to your families makes all the difference.
Happy Flag Day
On June 14th, we honor Old Glory- a symbol of freedom and liberty. We honor those who served this great nation and remember the power our nation’s flag holds.
Celebrating 249 Years of the U.S. Army
