On Saturday, June 15, from 11 AM — 4 PM, several local churches have banned together to sponsor a Juneteenth celebration to be held at Jeter Watson Park. Jeter Watson Park is located at 524 East Pine Street in Covington and the celebration will include Juneteenth history lessons, guest speakers, special entertainment, giveaways, free food, and children’s activities.
The program is set to begin at 11:30 AM and visitors are strongly urged to bring a chair to the event. The verse featured on this year’s flier is John 8:36 which reads, “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
The churches who sponsored the event are as follows: Pine Street Baptist Church, Gospel Tabernacle COGIC, Concerned Christian Baptist Church, Wrightsville Baptist Church, Historic First Baptist Church, Covenant Community Church, New Dimensions Christian Fellowship.
