HOT SPRINGS – In a Pioneer District girls tennis match, Bath County edged Parry McCluer 6-3 to earn their fifth win of the season.
Sadie Alphin & Abbey Phillips and Sophie Ailstock & Kelsey Eaton helped lead the charge in doubles as the Chargers took two out of three to get the match started.
With a slim 2-1 advantage BCHS moved onto singles matches where they grabbed four out of six wins. Phillips, Ailstock, Brooke Hess, and Alyssa DePoppe each earned solo wins to help lead the Chargers to the district victory.
Phillips and Ailstock were the only BCHS members to pick up multiple victories on the day.
This was the first official tennis match between the two programs on the season and was their first official meeting since Bath County defeated Parry McCluer for the district tournament championship last season. The two teams had an unofficial tennis match get suspended early in the season where the Chargers had trailed 2-1.
