The Area 18 Special Olympic Highlanders are quite a competitive group involved in area sports. Recently a group of the Highlanders received a donation from the Sharon Ruritan Club to help with their transportation and meds which aid their participation in these sports and games.
The forty active members of the Highlanders are from Clifton Forge, Covington, Alleghany County, and Bath County. They were recognized as State Champions in Basketball this previous November and February.
In addition to basketball, the Highlanders practice and compete in Softball, Pickleball, and Bocce Ball. They especially enjoy traveling to games, making new friends, and getting the chance to “eat out”!! Good luck to the Highlanders.
