StepStone Family and Youth Services will be holding their annual, nationwide, Wrapped In Love Blanket Drive, Jan. 31st-Feb. 14th. They are asking for donations of new or gently used blankets for youth who enter foster care.

Oftentimes youth enter care without any personal items. “The Wrapped in Love Blanket Drive allows us to provide a warm blanket to each child in our care and an item of their very own to help comfort them during transition into a new home,” said Lamona West, Licensing Specialist/Foster Parent Recruiter.

StepStone serves youth, aged 0-18, across the state to include: Christiansburg, Forest, Norfolk, Richmond, Roanoke, and Woodbridge. West covers the Roanoke region, to include Alleghany, Augusta, Rockbridge, Botetourt, Roanoke, Craig, Franklin, and Henry Counties. Also, the cities of Staunton, Waynesboro, Lexington, Covington, Roanoke, Salem, Martinsville, and Buena Vista.

“StepStone specializes in strengthening homes and supporting families. We connect children and youth who need homes to families who care enough to give them a good home. I enjoy working to fill needs in the community through my work and personal life,” said West.

They offer a level of care and support that can make a positive impact for life to include: foster care services, training for foster parents and young adults, youth residential services, family and youth services, and respite care.

The local donation box is located at StepStone Family and Youth Services, 2965 Colonnade Dr., Suite 130, Roanoke, VA. If interested in making a donation, but unable to travel to Roanoke, please call (540) 989-1703 or visit the website at StepStoneyouth.com to coordinate a pick-up or to check for additional drop-off locations.
