Clifton Forge, VA – Georgia troubadour Tinsley Ellis is set to enthrall audiences at the Historic Masonic Theatre with his one-of-a-kind “Naked Truth” performance on February 16 at 7:30 pm. This remarkable evening promises to be a soul-stirring experience, as Tinsley Ellis takes the stage to share his remarkable journey through music.
Born in Atlanta in 1957 and raised in southern Florida, Tinsley Ellis’s love affair with music began at the tender age of seven, sparked by witnessing The Beatles’ legendary performance on The Ed Sullivan Show. Like many of his generation, Ellis was drawn into the world of blues through the gateway of British Invasion bands such as The Yardbirds, Cream, and The Rolling Stones, as well as the sounds of Southern rockers like the Allman Brothers Band.
Over the years, Tinsley Ellis has left an indelible mark on the blues landscape, releasing an impressive catalog of 20 albums and clocking in millions of miles on the road. His musical journey has seen him sign with renowned record labels like Alligator and Capricorn, solidifying his status as an elder statesman of the blues world.
With his latest endeavor, “Tinsley Ellis – Acoustic Songs And Stories,” Ellis is all set to captivate audiences with an intimate and soulful performance. Armed with his 1937 National Steel and 1969 Martin D-35 guitars, Tinsley Ellis will breathe new life into many of his beloved songs. Additionally, he’ll pay homage to delta blues and perform classics by iconic artists like Gregg Allman, Bob Dylan, and Leo Kottke.
What sets this performance apart is Ellis’s ability to interweave music with fascinating, and at times, ribald stories from his incredible 40-year journey spent on stages, in motels, and truck stops. This promises to be a night filled with not only exceptional music but also an opportunity to delve into the experiences that have shaped Tinsley Ellis’s remarkable career.
Justin Reiter, Executive Director of the Historic Masonic Theatre, expressed his excitement, saying, “We are thrilled to welcome Tinsley Ellis back to the theatre. His music is a testament to his passion and dedication, and we can’t wait to witness his captivating performance. This is an event that lovers of blues and storytelling won’t want to miss.”
