Ethel Pauline Reid Aldridge
Ethel Pauline Reid Aldridge, age 90, of 420 Flat Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia went to her heavenly home on Friday, January 5, 2024.
She was born November 20, 1933, in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late Roy Kenny Reid, Sr. and Martha Belton Reid. She was a homemaker throughout her life. She was a member of Iron Gate Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and cantatas and helped in the nursery. Ethel was a member of Ruth Bible Class and the women’s missions and helped in the kitchen during bible school. She loved to sew, cook, bake gardening and flowers. Her biggest joy was her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Marion Aldridge, Sr.; two sisters, Mildred Reid Helmintoller and Geneva Reid; six brothers, Barrett Reid, Roy Kenny Reid, Jr., Carl Reid, Ernest Reid, Luther Reid and Virgil Reid, Sr.
She is survived by four daughters, Clara Blankenship and husband, Charles of Eagle Rock, Jean Knick and husband, Bobby, Barbara Clark and husband, Robbie, and Judy Aldridge, and a son, Cecil “Peewee” Aldridge, all of Clifton Forge; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; three great step-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-step granddaughter; two special nieces, Carol Reid and Nannie Foscoe; a sister-in-law, Joyce “Peachie” Aldridge; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Edith Snedegar and Mr. Chris Fisher officiating. Following the service, her body will be cremated. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home.
