Kathy Sue Gibson McCauley
Mrs. Kathy Sue Gibson McCauley, age 65, of Hot Springs, died Saturday, December 9, 2023, at LewisGale Medical Center, Salem. She was the wife of Michael Wayne McCauley.
Mrs. McCauley was born March 2, 1958, in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late Johnny Gibson and Anna Higgins Gibson. She had been employed as a sewing machine operator by the former Halmode Sewing Plant in Covington and later worked at Petticoat Junction for a number of years. In her spare time, Kathy enjoyed watching NASCAR, going bowling and playing bingo.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. McCauley is survived by four children, David Lee McCauley and wife, Denise of Hot Springs, Laurie May of Covington, Travis McCauley of Charlottesville and James McCauley of Hot Springs; four grandchildren, Ashli Kincaid, Britney May, Hunter McCauley and Charlie McCauley; two great-grandchildren, Kaydence Jessie and Carson May; and two brothers, Jimmy Spangler of Mobile, AL and Pete Gibson of Covington.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. McCauley was preceded in death by a brother, James “Dodo” Gibson.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 5, 2024, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Carl “Shorty” Wolfe officiating.
Friends attending the service, please wear casual dress to honor and celebrate Kathy’s life.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Loving Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
