Local author Lisa Richards will hold a signing and book talk for her new children’s book, “Follow Your Heart: How Owllen Discovered his True Calling”, at the Alleghany Highlands Regional Library. The event will take place on Thursday, November 9th at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Room.
Lisa Lemons Richards is a resident of Covington, VA, where she lives with her husband, Guy and their fur baby Dixie. She was born and raised in West Virginia, and is the proud sister of a twin, Linda Lewis, who is also pursuing writing a children’s book.
Lisa currently works as a Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher at Alleghany High School. She previously worked at Covington High School as a Library Media Specialist and Career & Technical Education Teacher, where she also taught a course titled “Teachers for Tomorrow”. She is passionate about education and helping students discover their true potential.
Lisa is a Marshall University graduate with a Master of Arts in Teaching and is certified in Library Media, Business & Information Systems, and Family & Consumer Sciences. Prior to her career in education, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Concord University. She recently completed a certificate program in Cybersecurity from Radford University and
earned a Career Coach certification with Virginia Community Colleges.
“Follow Your Heart: How Owllen Discovered his True Calling” is Lisa’s first published children’s book, and she hopes to inspire young readers to explore their passions and follow their dreams. In her spare time Lisa enjoys reading, traveling, skiing, kayaking, hiking, and spending time at the lake with her family and friends.
