Cynthia Marie Cook Phillips
Cynthia Marie Cook Phillips, age 60, of Covington, Virginia passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023 after a battle with kidney cancer.
She was born February 17, 1963, in Elkton, Maryland and raised in Vinton, Virginia to the late Ernest Cook and Molene Schilling. She was a graduate of William Byrd High School in 1981 and graduated from National College with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration. She was a correctional officer for the state of Virginia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Keith Phillips.
She is survived by her children, Curtis Clemons (Jaishia), Amanda Clemons and John Clemons; grandchildren, Xavier (Kaileigh), Chase, Braylen, Tristan, Jonathan and Lyla. She was the eldest of four children, with two sisters and a brother.
In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated. A private memorial will take place in Virginia Beach at a later date.
The family would like to say a special “Thank you” to the staff of Intrepid Hospice, the Walters family of Covington, the LaPrade family of Buchanan and the Brown family of Covington for the excellent, kind and compassionate care they gave Cynthia during her illness.
