On Monday morning, September 18th, the Alleghany Cougars Varsity Golf team traveled to the “The Club in Ironwood” in Staunton to play a qualifying match for regionals. They would rise victorious as one of two teams to advance in their region: Alleghany High School Cougars and Wilson Memorial Green Hornets. Alleghany’s individual player scores are as follows:

              Haden Spinks: 88

              Kai Rowland: 89

              Chase DePriest: 85

              Landon Arritt: 88

              Christopher Harden: 91

              Jacob Morris: 94

Alleghany’s team score was 350 and Wilson Memorial’s was 316.

When asked how his team has played, Lemon said, “The team has worked hard and continues to improve. One of the most exciting aspects is that each of our top four players have been team medalists this year. All of them will return next year, as two are juniors and the other two are sophomores. All of our players have improved since the beginning of the season.” The Varsity golf team’s recent advancement to regionals stands only to solidify Lemon’s statement and show the community just how hard they have worked this season to reach this impressive goal.

Regionals will be held at Lake Monticello in Charlottesville on Monday, September 25th at 11:00 a.m.
