Laura Shaver, store owner of “Laura’s Boutique” in Hot Springs, VA, made waves 25 years ago when she opened her own fashion boutique. Now, more than two decades later, she continues to make a splash in the business world as she celebrates her silver milestone.

This weekend, “Laura’s Boutique” will be celebrating with a special sale akin to a customer appreciation weekend. In celebration of 25 years in business, she is selling numerous items in her store for $25. Her ad, which has been making its rounds on Facebook, states, “So grateful for our customers, who keep us going… year after year.” We were able to speak to Ms. Shaver by phone who echoed the sentiment, saying, “I’ve survived because I have amazing customers.”

Amazing customers indeed! When talking to Shaver, it was clear her customers have stood by her through thick and thin. “We survived the recession, we survived COVID, we survived several floods, and we survived a van running through the front window, but my customers have remained loyal,” Shaver gushed. It was apparent during our brief interview that she credits her customers —and God— for “Laura’s Boutique” going strong for 25 years.

The humble third-generation store owner is also no stranger to owning/operating a business or working hard to get where you want to go. At the tender age of 14, Shaver worked in her grandmother’s store for $1/an hour. “It’s kind of in my blood,” she said. Her family, she says, also “had a store at the Homestead for 50 years.”

This weekend, “Laura’s Boutique” will have special store hours in observance of Labor Day Weekend. On Friday, September 1st, the store will be open from 10 am-5:30 pm. Saturday, September 2nd, 10 am-5:30 pm. Sunday, September 3rd, 12 pm-5 pm, and Monday, September 4th, 10 am-3pm.

Regular store hours are 10 am-5:30 pm, Monday-Saturday and closed on Sundays. “Laura’s Boutique” is located at 2840 Main Street in Hot Springs, VA, and can be reached by phone at 540-839-2619 or by email at girlnextdoor@tds.net.

“It’s been a wonderful thing to be on my own and I’m just very thankful,” Laura Shaver said. The soft-spoken store owner concluded the interview with, “God faithfulness is everything. I can’t thank Him, my customers, and my employees enough.”
