GEORGIA (VR) – According to reports from the Associated Press, former President Donald Trump and 18 allies were indicted in Georgia on Monday. The indictment, concerning attempts to overturn the 2020 election, details dozens of acts by Trump and others. The document is nearly 100 pages long.
During a late-night news conference, Fani Willis, the Fulton County District Attorney whose office brought the case, said, “The indictment alleges that rather than abide by Georgia’s legal process for election challenges, the defendants engaged in a criminal racketeering enterprise to overturn Georgia’s presidential election results.”
The other defendants include Mark Meadows, former White House chief of staff; Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s attorney and former New York Mayor; and others.
According to Willis, the defendants are permitted to surrender voluntarily by noon on Aug. 25.
