Joel Patrick Goodwin, 65, of 206 N. High Ave., died, Tuesday July 28, 2020 at his residence.
Mr. Goodwin was born May 31, 1955 in Covington, a son of the late Emmett and Barbara Toombs Goodwin. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Rita Faye Meade Goodwin in 2018 and an infant sister Barbara Sue Goodwin.
Joel retired from the paper machine at Westvaco in 2004. He was the owner of Goodwin Guns working as a gunsmith. Along with his job he was an avid outdoorsman and gardener, enjoyed making furniture and art, and golfing. He was involved in the former J.C. organization as well as the young democratic party in our area.
Surviving are his son Chris Goodwin of Covington, a daughter Nicole Goodwin and fiancé Aaron Pumphrey of Green Springs, OH, three brothers Jeff Goodwin and Charles Goodwin both of Covington and David and Peggy Goodwin of Richmond and two nephews and one niece.
In keeping with his wishes his body has been cremated.
The arrangements are being handled by Arritt Funeral Home.
