Monday, August 7 is National Purple Heart Day. A day for all Americans to say ‘thank you” to the men and women who were wounded or KIA (killed in action) fighting for our freedoms. All gave some, SOME GAVE ALL. Please take a moment on this day to remember these veterans.
February 22, 1932. General Order #3 signed by General Douglas MacArthur creates the modern Purple Heart in recognition of General George Washington’s ideals and for the bicentennial of his birth. On May 18, 1932, 136 World War I veterans received the Purple Heart and this tradition continues today. Thank you to all these men and women throughout the ages who have given so much for America. Long wave “Old Glory”.
