Dear Editor of Virginian Review,
We received a miracle this week: a long-awaited road on Hillcrest Drive. I think everyone was in shock. I cried standing on my porch watching the machinery go by. I hope everyone appreciates the hard work of a lot of people who made it happen; the Columbia Gas Company, the sign company, the flaggers who held signs directing traffic, the pavers, and a plethora of city workers who came when called.
The people who live here showed patience and maintained politeness and respect. It’s been a difficult time, but well worth it.
Also, I want to thank our mail person. She’s great! Additionally, Lance Carson, our City Council Representative, and Allen Dressler, our City Manager.
I can’t believe it’s almost over and everyone did great! Way back, it started with a petition drawn up by Bill Zimmerman, one of our Vice Mayors. Also, a neighbor, Charles Moorman. These gentlemen are no longer with us, but we thank them for their efforts in helping make this happen. I wish they were still with us.
I won’t go on and on.
Let’s be thankful and take care of the road. I hope it lasts for my lifetime. Time flies! I will soon be 80 years old. I’m grateful for everything the Lord gives us, and He gives good gifts.
Sincerely,
Carol S. Vance
