Juneteenth – “Celebrating Freedom and Creativity” is now open at the Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center, 439 E Ridgeway St, Clifton Forge, VA. “This show has expanded from four artists on a single wall to seven artists and one collector spread throughout both galleries at the Center. Admission is free. “This year’s Juneteenth exhibit offers some smiles, plenty of things to think about, and even some sass for our visitors,” commented Curator Nancy Newhard. “The works gathered here represent work from a local collector, full-time working artists, art instructors, entry-level and self-taught artists. Together they provide reasons and ways to celebrate the role of creative visual expression in celebrating this holiday. There are reproductions, oil paintings, acrylic paintings, sculptures, charcoal drawings, and mixed media pieces to explore various aspects of a shared history. Its thought-provoking and fun all at the same time.” The exhibit will run through July 21, 2023.
