Wayne Lee Potter, Sr., age 78, of 2750 Tabernacle Church Road, Pleasant Garden, North Carolina died Friday, July 3, 2020 in Fayetteville, NC.
Wayne was born April 23, 1942 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late Gordon Ranson Potter, Sr. and Catherine Taylor Potter.
He retired from the United States Army, having served in the Vietnam War, and was an ordained Methodist minister.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Lee Potter, Jr.; a daughter, Tamara Sue Potter; a sister, Patricia Ann Jeter; and four brothers, Gordon R. Potter, Jr., Charles Richard Potter, Donald Edward Potter, and Robert Larry Potter, Sr.
He is survived by two sisters, Judith Diane Powell and husband Jack of Low Moor, and Barbara Jean Nicely of Mebane, NC; two brothers, David Allen Potter, Sr. and wife Linda of Pleasant Garden, NC and Jerry Burton Potter and wife Marilyn of Mebane, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2020 in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor, with Reverend Gregory “Greg” Sink, MAJ, US Army officiating.
Military honors will be conducted at the graveside.
The family will visit with friends at the cemetery following the service.
