CLIFTON FORGE, Va. (VR) – On Wednesday, May 24, store manager Rosemary Tucker Floyd got a bit more than she bargained for when a customer lost control of their vehicle and rammed into the front door at the BP Grab N Go located at 211 W. Ridgeway Street in Clifton Forge.

Floyd chuckled nervously as she recalled the event that she says had her leaping on top of the counter.

“There was a woman; she did not know how to drive a clutch. She got into the truck and come through the store. She hit it three or four times. She didn’t let off the clutch or the gas and the truck just kept going into the store.”

Floyd went on to say the driver received a ticket for failure to maintain control of the vehicle. Aside from being a bit shaken up, Floyd was uninjured from the accident. In fact, there were no injuries that resulted from the unfortunate mishap.

Floyd says they have obtained the driver’s insurance information from her spouse. With the driver being at fault, her insurance will be responsible for covering the damage to the store. In the meantime, one of Floyd’s employees was generous enough to donate a piece of wood that is now being used as a temporary blockade until the door can be replaced.

“Our employees actually helped us get the door down, screwed the plywood up, all that,” Floyd stated.

It is unclear at this time how soon the door will be repaired or replaced, but Floyd is asking customers to continue using the one in back for the time being.
