COVINGTON, VA (VR) – As we prepare to lay Wreaths Across America wreaths on December 19, 2026, at Cedar Hill Cemetery, it seems like a good opportunity to remind all Vietnam veteran families about the Vietnam In Memory Program.
Since the Vietnam War ended, thousands of Vietnam veterans have suffered from Agent Orange exposure, PTSD, and other illnesses as a result of their service. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) believes those who served in the Vietnam War should be honored and remembered for their service. The In Memory Program enables the families and friends of those who came home and later died the opportunity to have them forever memorialized.
The plaque on the grounds of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., honoring these veterans was dedicated in 2004. It reads:
“In Memory of the men and women who served in the Vietnam War and later died as a result of their service. We honor and remember their sacrifice.”
We are reaching out to families in the Alleghany Highlands to enroll their Vietnam veterans in this program, which ensures they will always be remembered. There is no cost to participate, and the application process is simple.

Applicants will need a DD Form 214 to provide the required military service information, as well as two photographs (one from the Vietnam era and one more recent photograph are recommended).
