LOW MOOR, VA – In their final ever match on the soccer field, the Bath County Lady Chargers outlasted the Alleghany Lady Mountaineers 3-1.
Alleghany led at intermission 1-0, however it was Bath County who came out strong in the second half behind a dominant performance from Sage Gwin. In the second half, Gwin put together a hat-trick as she delivered all three goals for the Chargers, including the game-tying goal on a penalty kick just minutes into the second half.
The win was Bath County’s third of the season. The Chargers swept their season series with Alleghany 2-0.
With her three-goals, Gwin became the first Bath County girls’ soccer player to surpass 10+ goals since 2019. On the season Gwin has 11 goals.
On the defensive side of the ball, goalkeeper Zoey Jenkins allowed one goal and had five saves.
Alleghany’s goal cane towards the end of the first half from Faith Howell. Meanwhile goalkeeper Kendal Madison had 13 saves for the Mountaineers.
Bath County improved to 3-11-1 following their win over Alleghany and will host a Class 1, Region C playoff match on Thursday against Giles.
