Frederick Glenn McCormick
Mr. Frederick Glenn McCormick, age 101, of Covington, died Sunday, May 21, 2023, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Alice Salyers “Peggy” McCormick.
Mr. McCormick was born March 28, 1922, in Roseville, PA, the son of the late Glenn McCormick and Ethel Smith McCormick. While living in Elkland, PA, he was employed by Metamoral Packing Company, Elkland Tannery and A&P Manufacturing Plant. Upon coming to this area in 1983, Fred worked as a laborer with the United States Post Office in Clifton Forge for a number of years until his retirement at age ninety. Having served as a member of the United States Army in both World War II and the Korean Conflict, Mr. McCormick was one of the oldest members of the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Fred was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church as well as the Adult Sunday School class.
Mr. McCormick is survived by a son, Alan Chris McCormick and wife, Alice of Foley, AL; a daughter, Sharon M. McCarter and husband, William of Covington; and one grandson, Jason Crawford.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2023, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating, assisted by Rev. Bill Gilliland. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.
Graveside rites will be conducted by Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Pallbearers will be selected from the men of the church who attend the service.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home.
