AHS track competes at Glenvar High School

SALEM, VA – The Alleghany Mountaineers boys outdoor track team enjoyed a second place finish this past Wednesday at their track meet at Glenvar High School. 

 In an 11-team meet, the Mountaineers finished with 77 points. The hosts Highlanders won the boys meet with 113 points. 

 The boys team finished with three event victories. Drew Craft was front and center for the boys as he finished in first place in both the long jump and triple jump. In the long jump, Craft finished with a jump of 22-00.50, while in the triple jump, he had a jump of 43-01.50. Brennon Mahon also captured a victory at the meet as he placed first in the 300-meter hurdles as he finished with a time of 42.14.

 On the girls’ side, Nevaeh Wills finished in third place in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:58.38. Wills also had an eighth-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:42.87. Gracie Barron wasn’t far from Wills in the 1,600 as she clocked in with a time of 6:02.23. Barron was also right behind Wills in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:42.91

 You can find all the Mountaineer boys’ and girls’ events they participated in and where they placed at each event.

 The team will next run at the Cosmopolitan Invitational this Friday and Saturday at William Fleming High School.
