The Alleghany Highlands Regional Library will be offering a new take on Story Time.
Beginning on Wednesday, “Story Time Adventures” with Miss Tori will provide virtual Story Time programs full of music, stories, songs, crafts, and activities.
“We’ve had to change things up here at the library since the COVID pandemic,”said AHRL staff member Tori Fertig.
“Trying to find new ways to continue to be accessible to our patrons has been a challenge, but one we’ve faced head on with enthusiasm.
“Normally, our Story Time programs consist of hands on playing, singing, and reading, and we wanted to keep as much of that a part of the program as possible, but virtually,” she added.
Fertig has put together Story Time backpacks that include an array of items that can be used while watching Story Time on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. via the library’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
Some of the items include manipulatives to use for activities, craft supplies, and musical instruments.
“I’m looking forward to sharing the love of reading by creating Story Times that make the kids feel like they’re right here with me,” Fertig continued.
“I’m excited that each child can have their own backpack of supplies so they can follow along as we navigate a new way of learning.”
The AHRL Story Time backpack program is sponsored by the Friends of the Alleghany Highlands Regional Library.
Call the Alleghany Highlands Regional Library at 962-3321 to request a Story Time backpack.
The Alleghany Highlands Regional Library is located at 406 W. Riverside St. in Covington.
