Hometown Halloween, presented by Olde Town Covington, has been cancelled for this Saturday, due to an increase in positive COVID-19 cases in the Alleghany Highlands.
“It is with great sadness that we must announce that we are cancelling Hometown Halloween for this Saturday, October 31,” said Cindy Bryant, president of Olde Town Covington. “In view of the rising occurrences of positive COVID tests, area school closures and multiple businesses closing, we have decided to cancel for the safety of our children and the community. This has been a very difficult decision for us but feel as though a community gathering at this time is risky and dangerous.”
She added, “We want to thank our community partners that signed up to be a part of this fun event. We appreciate your willingness to participate in our events. We look forward to having community events when it is safe to do so in the future. Thank you for your understanding.”
