For the second time this season, the reigning Class 3 state champion Carroll County Lady Cavaliers (19-1, 9-0) defeated the Alleghany Lady Mountaineers (12-7, 4-5) by 30+ points following a 55-25 victory on Tuesday at Mountaineer Arena.
The Lady Cavaliers only had a four point lead going into the second quarter, but that’s where they would break the game open by posting their highest scoring quarter of the game with 24. The Lady Cavaliers broke the game open by scoring 13 straight points and took a 33-13 lead into the second half.
The win for the Lady Cavaliers was their eighth straight of 30 or more points as the team remains undefeated in the Three Rivers District.
Coming off of a 16-point performance in the teams win over Craig County last week, Macyn Cash once again led the way in scoring for the Lady Mountaineers with a team-high 11 points.
Meanwhile, the Lady Cavaliers were led by a trio of players who scored in double figures. Jaelyn Hagee led all scorers with a game-high 15 points, while Alyssa Ervin had 14, and Kalee Easter had 13.
Last night the Lady Mountaineers looked for the season sweep over the James River Lady Nights. This evening they’ll be on the road against the Auburn Eagles.
