Covington police are investigating a Saturday accident that led to the death of a pedestrian.
Police Chief Chris Smith said the incident occurred at approximately 8 p.m. at the intersection of South Alleghany Avenue and East Walnut Street.
Covington first-responders administered first aid at the scene.
The victim died after being transported to a Roanoke hospital for more advanced medical treatment.
Smith said police are withholding the name of the victim and the driver while the incident remains under investigation.
