The city of Covington has announced that the recycling container has arrived and is ready for public use.
The container is located behind Casey Field on the baseball parking lot.
This will be a single stream operation which will mean that there will be no sorting required by residents.
“With this shift for recycling needs, the city is working very diligently with local agencies like the Community Services Board, Career Support and other agencies to make sure that the workers at Jackson River Enterprises have support and employment potentials in the future,” said Covington City Manager Krystal Onaitis.
The recycling container will be picked up bi-weekly from the drop off location that will be located at Casey Field, 700 West Oak Street.
With the initial collections, the city will be monitoring the amount of recycling collected at the drop off location at Casey Field. This monitoring will determine the need for additional drop off units.
No glass is accepted for recycling.
“Join us in this effort of keeping Covington beautiful, and becoming a greener place to live,” Onaitis said.
A recycling contract between the city and Recycling and Disposal Solutions of Virginia began on Oct. 1.
RDS also works with Bath County and Clifton Forge to provide recycling services.
