On Oct. 15, 1957, Elvis Presley’s first Christmas album titled “Elvis’ Christmas Album” was released by RCA Victor at the peak of his popularity.

His album soon topped Billboard 200 to remain No. 1 for four weeks on its way to becoming the best-selling Christmas album of all time.

Today, the album has sold twice as many copies as the number two best-selling Christmas album, totaling more than 20,000,000 copies sold as Christmas of 2022 nears.

Elvis’ best-selling album features his classic original, “Blue Christmas” and traditional Christmas hits, “White Christmas” and “Silent Night.”

Other songs on the album include “Santa Claus Is Back in Town,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” “Santa, Bring My Baby Back,” (There’ll Be) “Peace In the Valley” and “I Believe.”

Elvis recorded 149 songs during his career, and he became the first recording artist to have 100 of his songs chart on the Billboard Hot 100 Pop Chart. Billboard established its chart for listing recordings in 1940.

In fact, of the 149 songs that Elvis recorded, 114 found their way onto the chart, and 40 of those songs reached the Top 10 with 18 of the 40 reaching No. 1. Those No. 1 hits combined to top the Billboard chart for 80 weeks.

As for the No. 1 best-selling Christmas song, “White Christmas” recorded by Bing Crosby remains the best-selling single of all time, having sold more than 50,000,000 copies.

“Blue Christmas” which Elvis recorded in Sept. of 1957 remains his No. 1 Christmas single with “Silent Night” currently No. 2. His version of “White Christmas” continues to be his No. 3 best-selling for a Christmas single.

CLIFTON FORGE — A sold-out crowd filled the Historic Masonic Theatre on Sunday evening for the Virginia 250 Flag Day Patriotic Tribute, a special celebration marking America's upcoming 250th birthday.
The free concert featured the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro David Stewart Wiley, joined by special soloist Dr. E. Daryl Duff.
One of the evening's most memorable moments came during the "Armed Forces Salute," when local veterans were invited to stand and be recognized as the musical tribute to their respective military branches was performed. The audience responded with enthusiastic applause as veterans throughout the theater were honored for their service.
The presentation was made possible through the support of the Alleghany Foundation, Historic Masonic Theatre, Town of Clifton Forge, Alleghany County, City of Covington, Mountain Gateway Community College Educational Foundation, Mountain Gateway Community College, Alleghany Highlands Arts Council, and the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism.
