CLIFTON FORGE, Va. (VR) – Clifton Forge School of the Arts announces a new exhibit in their Gallery by artist A.E. Reed, a native of Callaghan.
Reed, a graphic designer who now lives in High Point, N.C. calls this show “a love letter to the Alleghany Highlands.”
Appropriately named The Highlands Show, Reed has created 36 mixed-media works depicting scenes and landmarks from throughout the Alleghany Highlands.
With subjects ranging from beloved natural sites like Falling Springs to historic buildings such as the James Burke house, Reed presents pieces with a variety of themes, forms, and styles. From Firmstone Mansion in the Longdale Furnace area to Mud Tunnel in Callaghan, there are familiar sights from across the county.
A treat to all those who know and love the area, The Highlands Show will be on display at the School of the Arts through October 28. The public is invited to come see the Highlands through AE Reed’s unique perspective.
You can meet AE and be one of the first to enjoy the exhibit at an opening reception this Friday, September 2 from 6:00-8:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served.
The School also has a few spaces left in Reed’s collage workshops on September 3. The session for children will be from 10:00 am-noon, and the session offered to teens and adults is from 2:00-4:00 pm. You can register on the School of the Arts website (cfsota.org) or in person at the School’s office.
