Carnegie Hall’s Fall Classes & Workshops gets an early start with a great opportunity to learn how to hand build clay class with Sean O’Connell. There will be two six-class sessions starting Monday, September 7.
Explore a variety of form and design concepts combining several techniques in working clay by hand. Tap into creative problem solving in clay, using visual elements such as line, volume, balance, texture, proportion scale, and color in a three-dimensional design. Shape a lidded tripod ginger jar from soft clay slabs or mold a full in-the-round sculptural figure. Sculpt a bas relief wall piece or garden muse. Come create objects of beauty, function, integrity, and spirit. All levels welcome.
Session 1 take place on Wednesdays, September 7, 14, 21, 28, October 5, and 26 (no class October 12, 19). Students wanting to create ceramic gifts as presents should take session 1 to have their items fired before the Holidays. Session 2 takes place on Wednesdays, November 2, 9, 16, 30, December 7, and 21 (no class December 14). All classes are from 6 – 8:30 p.m.
Registration is $225 for members ($250 for nonmembers), but all students qualify for an automatic scholarship and pay only $200. All materials are provided. Students must be 17 years old and class size is limited.
